State of Texas Taiwan Office

The State of Texas Taiwan Office (STTO) operates under the Texas Economic Development & Tourism Office, within the Office of the Governor. The STTO’s mission is to attract foreign direct investment and job creation into Texas and increase Texas exports into Taiwan and other Asian countries. The STTO will support the promotion of the Texas business climate, grow international trade and tourism and support actives that are key to the economy.

Why Texas?

Texas and Taiwan have a strong and growing economic partnership. In 2024, total trade between Texas and Taiwan was $25.6 billion, making Taiwan the sixth-largest total trade partner to Texas.

With opportunity across diverse industries—from semiconductors and electronics to energy and petrochemicals—Texas is focused on upholding our competitive business advantages so that Taiwanese companies of all kinds can thrive in our business ecosystem.

Texas has attracted $13.9 billion in investment from Taiwan-based companies, bringing more than 5,000 new jobs. This is thanks to Texas' business-friendly climate, robust infrastructure, highly skilled and diverse workforce, exceptional quality of life and strong economy—which ranks as the eighth-largest in the world.

“Made in Texas” has never been a more powerful global brand. Texas remains the top exporting state in the U.S. for the last 23 years in a row and the top exporter of semiconductors and electronic components for 14 years. Not to mention, Texas leads the nation with the largest theoretical wafer manufacturing capacity, representing approximately 36% of the U.S. total.

As the #1 destination in the U.S. for FDI over the last two decades, Texas is bigger and better for business. We welcome Taiwanese and Asian companies to come see how Texas can work for you!
